The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken action against Halima Shehu, the suspended National Coordinator and CEO of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). The arrest comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of Shehu, prompted by the suspicious transfer of N17 billion from NSIPA accounts to other accounts within a week.
Halima Shehu is facing allegations of approving payments without proper presidential authorization. The EFCC, after conducting searches at her residence and office, detained her around 9 pm for further interrogation. The anti-graft agency is intensifying its investigation and is reportedly focusing on a director within the agency connected to the substantial payments.
