In an emotional revelation, rising star Khaid shared a touching story of how Olamide, one of Nigeria’s biggest music icons, supported him during a challenging time. “Before my illness, I never had plans of featuring Olamide on my EP. But during my illness, Olamide came to the hospital and told me that he had a gift for me, but he’d only give it to me when I got out of the hospital,” Khaid recounted.
Upon Khaid’s recovery, Olamide invited him over, revealing his intention to be part of Khaid’s music. “When he heard that I was out of the hospital, he called me and asked me to come over to his house. When I went to his house, he told me that he wanted to be on my song. Upon hearing this, I was like, Baddoo, I don’t have enough money to pay for your verse. But Olamide just laughed, held me by the hand, and took me to his studio where we recorded ‘Way Back,'” Khaid shared.
The story didn’t end there. Olamide went above and beyond by mixing and mastering the entire track himself and generously handing over all the credits, rights, and royalties to Khaid. The song, “Way Back,” has since become the most streamed track on Khaid’s new EP, and it has garnered significant attention, especially in Ojo, thanks to the collaboration with Olamide.
Khaid expressed his immense gratitude, saying, “Olamide collaborated with me for free, mixed and mastered the whole song but still gave me all the credits, rights, and royalties to the song.” His appreciation for Olamide’s kindness and support shines through, highlighting a heartwarming moment in the music industry where mentorship and generosity create a lasting impact.
