“I Wanted 28, But 7 Became My Key to Success,” Says Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a revealing anecdote about how he came to embrace the number 7, despite initially wanting to wear number 28. In a recent statement, Ronaldo admitted that he was initially apprehensive about wearing the number 7 shirt at Manchester United, a number famously worn by David Beckham.
“When I first signed for Manchester United, I arrived at the club and asked to play with 28. I wanted 28 because it’s the number that I used in Sporting,” Ronaldo recounted. “But the coach said, ‘No! You’re not going to wear 28. You’re going to use number 7.’ I was a little bit intimidated because I knew Beckham wore that shirt and I felt like I couldn’t match up to him.”
Ronaldo accepted the challenge and embraced the number 7, which he now considers his lucky number. Reflecting on this decision, he noted, “If I played 28 like I wanted, I wouldn’t have been as successful as I am today because 7 is my lucky number.” He highlighted that while hard work is essential, football also involves an element of luck.
Ronaldo’s story serves as a powerful reminder of how embracing challenges and accepting guidance can lead to unexpected success and personal growth.
