However, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the President and Founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, better known as Christ Embassy, views the incident not as a setback but as an opportunity for growth and improvement.
During a live Sunday service held at the church’s campground in Asese, and monitored by Vanguard, Pastor Oyakhilome addressed the fire incident. He emphasized that the event was not accidental but a chance for greater things to come.
“Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident,” Pastor Chris stated. He recounted a similar experience from 2001 during the Ikeja cantonment bombing incident. “The building vibrated so much, and we thought it was going to collapse. I thought to myself that if it collapsed, I was going to build a bigger, better one. At the end of the day, it didn’t collapse, and we called the engineers to see if there was any need to bring it down and rebuild, but it was still okay.”
Reflecting on the recent fire, he declared, “Now that this has happened, we will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one, and the devil will lick his wounds.”
The fire at the Christ Embassy headquarters quickly went viral on social media, with numerous videos showing the building in flames. Thankfully, the men of the Lagos Fire Service responded promptly to the emergency, managing to rescue the situation. Importantly, no lives were reported lost in the incident.
