Awilo Longomba’s Unmatched Popularity in Nigeria

In 2000, Awilo Longomba filled the 45,000-capacity National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria. Three years later, in 2003, he packed the 30,000-capacity Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, Taraba State, Nigeria. To date, no artist has been able to replicate these feats. Additionally, he filled the 22,000-capacity Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Nigeria.

During that period, Awilo Longomba was the most popular artist in Nigeria, even more so than in his home country, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
